Backyard Composting Class, Saturday Feb 4, 10am-12pm
Backyard composting is an attractive, simple method of managing organic wastes at home. It has the advantage of being readily adaptable to fit individual lifestyles, income, yard size, and overall ambition. This class will cover the "whos, whats, whens, wheres, whys and hows" of composting. The class will also discuss wide scale composting conducted at Marvin's Organic Garden in Lebanon. Come prepared to enjoy an interactive show and tell along with a hands-on portion. You will leave the class with a worm-composting bin capable of
managing the organic waste of your kitchen.
The class will be taught by Wes Duren. An organic gardening enthusiast, Mr. Duren graduated from Ohio State University in 2002 with a degree in Landscape Horticulture and a minor in Natural Resources. He worked at OSU's Chadwick Arboretum as a Mayhew Scholar while finishing his last year at school. He also received a degree in English Gardening Styles from Myercough College in Preston, England.
Fee is $15 for class

FLYING PIGS FOR STRONG KIDS - Saturday, May 5 or Sunday May 6
Looking for a new goal this year? How about crossing the Finish Swine at this year's Flying Pig Marathon? By registering with us, we will provide training 1) programs designed to prepare you for your selected race, and groups to train with in your area, 2) Two Technical shirts (long-sleeve training and short-sleeve race day), 3) Informational seminars, 4) training coaches. By spreading your wings with us, you will help suport our Strong Kids Campaign. Registration deadline is April 1st.
$100 Registration fee for 5K or 10K race, Saturday, May 5th
$150 Registration fee for half marathon, marathon relay, or marathon on Sunday, May 6th.
