Our muscular strength classes-FREE to YMCA members- are focused on results. Regardless of your level of fitness, we have a muscle strength class for you to help you enhance your flexibility, balance, and overall muscle strength. From Abs, Glutes, and Legs to Total Body Conditioning, choose the workout that's right for you and benefit from the expertise of our highly trained fitness instructors. Classes vary by location.
A unique blend of strength training, yoga and pilates, all centered around traditional ballet barre drills. Gain grace, strength and better posture while improving muscle tone and endurance. Find your strength and stamina, and achieve amazing results with this class.
Offered at East Butler and Fairfield YMCAs.
This gentle form of yoga will practice yoga sitting in a chair or standing using the chair for support. Complicated maneuvers and complex movements are NOT present in this class. The chair is used cue to the difficulty in getting down and up off the floor. Learn many yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and ways of relaxation.
A class focusing on abdominal work only. No warm up
Fit For Life
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seating and/or standing support.
This high-energy class consists of various strength and cardio stations that will challenge your fitness level. These exercises can improve sports performance and have a conditioning effect. This class is for all levels of wellness enthusiasts. Stations consist of rope jumping, step, agility drills/sports moves, jogging, push ups, jumps, cycling and more!
High intensity class consists of warm up, stretch, 30-40 minute muscle conditioning and cool-down. Non-choreographed.
Have you hit a plateau in your training regimen? Muscle confusion will help you conquer that obstacle. This fast paced, energetic class will focus on natural body mechanics to help strengthen your stabilizer muscles and help you build a rock-solid core. It is designed to increase strength, endurance, and cardiovascular
Series of mat exercises that improve flexibility, joint mobility and strength. Benefits are long, strong muscles, a flat stomach, strong back and improved posture. Also good for stress management. May use balls and additional equipment.
A choreographed muscular strength endurance program designed to shape and tone. Participants use light hand weights.
This 60-minute ropes course combines strength and conditioning work with a rope with low-impact cardio for a total body workout. This can be modified for all ages.
This total body strengthening workout not only emphasizes targeted muscle groups, but also enhances stability, balance and flexibility with every move. Concentration on the core postural muscles.
Strength Train Together
Strength Train Together (formerly Group Power) will blast all your muscles with a high-rep weight training workout. Using an adjustable barbell, weight plates and body weight, this workout combines squates, lunges, presses and curls, with functional integrated exercises. Dynamic music and motivating group atmosphere will get your heart rate up, make you sweat and push you to a personal best.

This program helps improve flexibility. A great class for everyone!
Total Body Conditioning
Combination aerobics, extra muscle toning and flexibility. This class includes step, low impact, interval and other fun variations.
Learn the latest strength and relaxation techniques with yoga. Learn the beginning poses accompanied by meditations to soothe spirit, mind and body. Exercises are combined to adhere to all fitness levels.
A fun dance party atmosphere with a fusion of dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system. The routines utilize the principles of fitness interval and body weight training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning with a combination of fast and slow rhythms. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps, so no prior dance experience is needed.
A high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.
Delay the Disease-Parkinson's Exercise Program
The East Butler County YMCA is pleased to offer Delay the Disease, an evidence-based wellness program that empowers people with Parkinson’s Disease to live better and experience new levels of hope by optimizing function and restoring independence. This program targets daily functional challenges and includes symptom-specific fitness agendas. Exercise plans are adapted to all levels of the disease.

Colleen Schuster and Amy Bertram will lead our DTD classes. Colleen and Amy are licensed physical therapists and certified coaches for Delay the Disease. They are uniquely qualified due to years of education and experience working with neurologically involved patients.
Classes will be Mondays 1:00-2:00 and Wednesdays 2:30 to 3:30 in the Group Exercise Classroom.
