The Y nurtures the potential of children through the YMCA's Youth Sports programming by strengthening character in our youth, engaging families, and building lasting relationships. Participants in these programs build skills, learn about teamwork, and focus on sportsmanship. Families are presented with second-to-none volunteer opportunities as coaches, team parents, and committee members.

Tae Kwon Do training is appropriate for people of any age who are interested in an approach to fitness that includes the body, mind, and spirit. Classes are led by Master M. Zimmer (6th degree) at East Butler YMCA and by Master R. Metzner (7th degree) at Atrium YMCA with the assistance of several black belts ranking from 1st degree to 5th degree at both YMCA locations. All Instructors are professionally trained black belts from the I.K. Kim Tae Kwon Do Centers, Inc. organization and supervised by Mrs. S. Kim (Grand Master Il-Kwon Kim).
Families are encouraged to train to achieve quality time together and work toward a common goal. Students at each belt level learn basic motions, forms, self-defense, breaking techniques, and participate in supervised, controlled free-fighting. Respect and courtesy are emphasized. New beginners start class on the first Tuesday or Thursday of each new month. Uniform order information will be discussed at 1st class orientation. Students will test to higher belt ranks at various intervals with instructor permission upon learning set curriculum.
