Take your little one and hop in the pool together for fun and enrichment! Children ages 6 months to 3 years will enjoy the many water readiness activities provided by our YMCA aquatics instructors. Together, you will learn how to feel comfortable in the water while preparing your child to learn to swim - an important skill for safety as well as for fun. Parents must be in the water with their child at all times.
Infant Swim (ages six months to two years)
This 30-minute class is a water adjustment class. The child will learn water safety, basic stroke development such as kicking and floating, and will also enjoy games and songs that reinforce water skills. Parents will learn how to handle their young swimmer while in the water as well as balance and towing.
Toddler Swim (ages two to five)
This class is for those swimmers who are not ready for the structure of progressive swim lessons or are not ready to be separated from mom or dad. Basic stroke development, safety and water sports are incorporated into this class to help children prepare to begin progressive swim lessons. The parents and the class instructor will work together to encourage independence and confidence in each swimmer
